Mombasa, Kenya - In an unprecedented move to foster unity and teamwork, the ATUPA Secretariat hosted its first-ever team-building event from February 19 to 22 2024 at the scenic Mombasa City Blue Hotel. Themed "From Me to We", the event aimed to transition the staff's mindset from individualism to collective effort, emphasizing the power of unity in achieving common goals.

The event saw the full participation of the ATUPA Secretary-General herself, underscoring the importance of the initiative. Her involvement was not just symbolic but also active, as she engaged in various activities alongside her team, demonstrating leadership by example.

The four-day event was packed with a variety of fun activities and games designed to break the ice and build trust among members of the secretariat. From team challenges to problem-solving games, the activities were meticulously chosen to encourage collaboration, communication, and mutual support. The event also included a key capacity building session, facilitated by Ms. Grace Nzula, a communication expert. Her session focused on enhancing effective communication for strategic results. Through the interactive session and practical exercises, Ms. Grace imparted valuable insights on effective communication strategies that resonate with the theme "From I to We".

The overarching aim of the team-building event was to knit the staff members closer, building a robust team spirit as they gear up for an eventful year ahead. The ATUPA Secretariat recognizes the significance of a united team in navigating the challenges and opportunities that lie in the path of achieving their objectives.

As the event concluded, the staff members left with a renewed sense of camaraderie and a collective commitment to work together more cohesively. The enjoyable and relaxing atmosphere of the Mombasa City Blue Hotel provided the perfect backdrop for unwinding and reflecting on the lessons learned.
The success of this inaugural team-building event has set a precedent for the ATUPA Secretariat, highlighting the critical role of teamwork and communication in fostering a productive and harmonious work environment. With the promise to work together even more closely, the staff members are now better equipped to tackle the tasks and challenges of the upcoming year, embodying the spirit of "From Me to We".
